Job Summary
- To lead, manage, and oversee the implementation and monitoring of the organization’s programs aimed at combating maternal and infant mortality in Nigeria.
- The role involves strategic planning, coordination, advocacy, and partnership building to achieve the organization's goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Management & Implementation:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of nationwide healthcare and educational intervention programmes.
- Ensure the establishment and effective operation of drug banks in 60 selected tertiary hospitals.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote the return of out-of school children to the classroom and increase literacy rates in rural communities.
Advocacy and Policy Development:
- Advocate for maternal and child health issues at local, national, and international levels.
- Collaborate with key organizations and agencies to influence policy formation and drive systemic change.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary research initiatives and support evidence based practices in maternal and child health.
Grant Proposal Development, Management & Reporting:
- Develop and implement strategies to create comprehensive and compelling grant proposals, that align with the organization’s mission and program objectives, enhance proposal writing processes and increase success rates.
- Collaborate with programme staff to gather necessary data, impact stories, and supporting documentation for proposals.
- Track and manage grant submissions, deadlines, reporting requirements, records of grant-related documents, and communications.
Community Engagement, Partnerships & Advocacy:
- Implement community-based initiatives such as containerized classrooms and water sanitation programs.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local and international NGOs, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with health, educational, and agricultural agencies to promote nutritious meals and holistic child development programs.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track program progress and impact.
- Prepare and present regular reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and relevant regulations.
Qualifications|
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field. A relevant PhD or advanced qualification is an advantage.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is desirable.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., Public Health Association, International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics) is a plus.
- At least 10 – 15 years of experience in education, with demonstrated experience in healthcare and/or educational program design, management, and evaluation, preferably in developing or rural areas.
- Extensive experience in programme management within the non-profit sector, preferably managing large-scale healthcare and/or educational programs or interventions in rural or underserved areas.
- Demonstrated experience in working with government bodies, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
Skills and Competence:
- Strong experience in developing successful grant proposals, securing diverse funding, and managing donor relationships.
- Expertise in budget management, expenditure tracking, and ensuring compliance with grant-funded project reporting.
- Proven ability to produce detailed grant reports and collaborate with teams to measure programme outcomes.
- Excellent research skills for identifying grant opportunities, analyzing donor priorities, and utilizing research for program development.
- Skilled in stakeholder communication and advocacy with government bodies, community leaders, and international organizations.
- Ability to collaborate across sectors and with organizations focused on education, child rights, and development.
Personal Attributes:
- A passionate advocate strong commitment to the healthcare and/or education sector and a passion for reaching marginalized children.
- Able to engage with diverse communities and adapt educational programs to fit various cultural and socio-economic contexts of disparate communities across Nigeria.
